What Plants Should We Choose?

By Angela Whiffin

Choosing the right plant for the right location is important for creating a healthy and sustainable landscape. Different plants thrive in different conditions, so factors such as soil moisture, sunlight, available space, and surrounding habitat should all be considered.

Plants that prefer wetter conditions are best suited to areas close to the creek, while species that thrive in drier conditions should be planted further away from the water. Considering the mature size of plants and the level of shade they provide will also help ensure long-term success.

We source our plants from the Newport Lakes Native Nursery, where experienced staff can help you select the most suitable indigenous species for your garden, property, or Creekside planting area. By choosing the right plants for the right place, you can support local biodiversity and help create a thriving natural environment.

The Friends of Skeleton Creek are proud to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the traditional custodians of the Country we know as our homeland. We value and respect their deep and continued spiritual and cultural connections to the land, waters and seas, and pay our respects to their Ancestors, and Elders past and present.
